Porsche owner covers license plate with tape to dodge parking fee
A Porsche owner who used duct tape to change his number plate so he could dodge car parking charges has been seized by police in southern China.
Baffled bosses in Nanning could not work out how the car was often parked in the same spot but there were no records of it getting out.
They could only find records -- dating back six months to August -- of the Porsche getting into the parking lot, which used number plate recognition technology.
CCTV checks revealed that the owner Cai used duct tape to alter his number plate so it could not be caught on camera when he left.
Cai was caught in the act of using the tape to change the license plate's 'L' to a '6'.
Locals speculated that the driver had spent so much money on his imported Italian sports car that he did not have enough to pay the parking fees.
The Porsche driver is now facing a 15-day jail sentence and a fine of CNY 2,000 (GBP 240) plus a black mark on his social credit score.
His vehicle was seized while police investigate his case.
