A home shook as a magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia on Thursday morning.

Footage shows a chandelier swaying as the tremor was felt in Aceh province, on the northwestern tip of Sumatra island.

The United States Geological Survey said the magnitude 6.6 quake struck Simeulue Island at 11:56 am local time. It was centred 45 kilometres (28 miles) northwest of the coastal town of Sinabang, at a depth of 25 kilometres (15 miles).

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said no tsunami warnings were raised.

Indonesia lies within the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcanic eruptions and earthquakes happen.
