An anti-abortion protester known for scaling buildings was taken into custody after free-climbing a 40-storey skyscraper in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Maison DesChamps, who calls himself the Pro-Life Spiderman, said on an Instagram live stream of the stunt that the climb was to raise money.

The Phoenix Fire Department responded to the scene Tuesday morning with technical rescue crews on the ground and on the roof.

During the climb, officials asked the public to avoid the area near Central Avenue and Monroe Street.

Videos shared by Jim Wyatt show DesChamps doing a spider climb between two close sections of the building.

He can be seen reaching the top of the building, where officials were waiting to apprehend him, as a crowd below cheers.

Another video filmed by Alexandra Zurborg shows emergency vehicles lining the street and crowds gathered to watch.

The Chase Tower is the tallest building in Arizona and has been empty since Chase vacated the building in 2021.

DesChamps was taken into custody at the top of the building where police were waiting.

It’s not the first time DesChamps has illegally scaled tall buildings.

He was previously arrested for scaling San Francisco’s Salesforce Tower in May 2022 and the Arias Hotel in Las Vegas in August 2021.
