In Thailand, a group of monitor lizards was captured on camera fighting over a fish near a vendor's stall.

Onlooker Nut Senavijit witnessed the moment when one of the lizards emerged from a nearby pond in Nakhon Pathom province with a fish in its jaws.

As the animal slinked away to eat, two other rival reptiles appeared and began to challenge it for its hard-earned meal.

These Asian water monitor lizards are commonly found in canals, swamps, sewers, and ponds throughout the cities of Thailand, where they feed on fish, snakes, frogs, and scraps of food left behind by humans.

Despite being aggressive when threatened and possessing a mildly venomous bite that sometimes carries harmful bacteria, the lizards are a protected species in Thailand, allowing their population to thrive.
