Firefighters rushed to extinguish hot spots threatening a national forest in Thailand.

The two forest fires, started through illegal farming, were detected at the Doi Luang Chiang Dao area in northern Chiang Mai province on April 26, just hours after they were extinguished on Tuesday evening.

The affected area was a steep cliff, posing difficulties for responders on foot.

Firefighters set up firebreaks and monitored the situation near the base of the mountain, while the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment deployed a helicopter to dump water onto the blaze on April 26 afternoon.

However, the fire was rekindled in the evening, and some 50 staff had to climb the treacherous terrain to tackle the blaze.

Footage shows personnel clearing dry leaves and twigs from the fire's path and using blowers to put out the weak flames.

Thailand has been grappling with forest fires in recent months believed to be caused by illegal agricultural burning.
