A bungling driver passed through a narrow motorcycle ramp before being stuck in the middle.

The unidentified man passed by the road sign that clearly says ‘Motorcycle Only' but stubbornly pushed his luck in Samut Sakhon province, Thailand on April 29.

Everything was going smoothly for the traffic violating Toyota Camry until he reached about 35ft up the ramp, and realised his car was too big for the path.

Footage shows the bull-headed driver blocking the ramp as amused riders watched him from below.

Onlooker Tanakron said: ‘He caused a traffic jam because we were all waiting for his next move. I don't know what made him think that he could pass by there.'

Desperate to take his sedan off the ramp, the driver risked deep dents and scratches to his car and drove in reverse until he was freed from the narrow path.

Witnesses claimed the driver appeared drunk.

Tanakorn added ‘Even his front tire broke while reversing. He drove into the market like nothing happened after that.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools, cheap loans for cars, notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws as well as endemic corruption and chronic under-investment in infrastructure hamper the efforts.
