An investigation has been launched after two minor blasts rocked areas in Amritsar, Punjab, near the Golden Temple.

The second explosion occurred just a day after the first one which left six people injured.

The latest blast happened around 6:30 am local time and police reported that one person suffered a minor injury to their leg.

Punjab police force has ruled out an IED blast and said it was a low-intensity blast.

In less than 35 hours since a low-intensity blast shook the Heritage Street leading to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, another similar blast was reported close to the same location on Monday morning, leaving at least one person injured.

This is the second crude bomb blast in the vicinity of the Golden Temple in nearly 24 hours.

The incident happened at around 6.30 am. The police, including police commissioner, and forensic teams have reached the spot and are collecting the samples for examination.

The sound of the blast were heard by nearby locals and they also saw smoke in the area after the explosion.

The blast happened as an unidentified person hung the explosive substance, bomb, with a thread from Heritage Street parking lot.
