Dozens were injured in a barbecue restaurant explosion caused by suspected gas leak in the Philippines.

The workers were prepping meat and side dishes for the morning when the incident happened at a Korean barbecue place at a mall in Oriental Mindoro province on June 29 morning.

At least 15 people - four kitchen crew, a delivery rider, and ten customers - were hurt while parked cars and windows were left with shattered glasses.

Footage shows the explosion's aftermath showing the degree of damage in the vicinity. Injured workers were at the parking lot receiving first aid treatment.

Onlooker Ferdie Rabang said in the video: ‘It is destroyed. Mr Won is destroyed. Look at all these.'

Ferdie continued to walk around and was shocked at the sight of the wounded workers.

He said: ‘Oh no, the workers are hurt. There are some Korean unconscious inside the restaurant. It's unbelievable.'

All those who were injured were taken to hospitals in ambulances.

Meanwhile, Police Regional Office chief Brigadier General Joel Doria said they had launched an investigation into the explosion.

He said: ‘We understand the concerns and anxieties of the community, and we want to emphasise that the situation is being given the highest priority. We urge the public to remain calm and cooperative with the authorities.'
