Footage shows the headquarters of Thailand's Pheu Thai party this morning following their election coalition landslide as members plot a way to wrest power from the country's armed forces.

The political party led by the daughter of former Man City owner Thaksin Shinawatra came second in the national poll but joined forces with they progressive Move Forward party.

They now face an uphill struggle against an electoral system rigged by the military to ensure army chiefs retain control through a system of 250 military-appointed senators who cast the deciding votes. The aging officials have indicated they will stick with the status quo and re-elect the army to avoid the democratic alliance from reforming the country's monarchy.

Move Forward is planning a victor rally this afternoon at the Democracy Monument in the capital.
