Motorway driver legally undercuts traffic as he zip-filters approaching construction zone in England
This is the moment Dashcam captured a motorist legally undercutting traffic approaching a construction zone.
The driver was in the nearside lane of the Southbound carriageway of the M6 Motorway close to Stafford, England on 16 April 2023.
Three lanes of top-to-tail traffic were slowly moving to the right of the vehicle however there were no vehicles in the dashcam drivers lane, meaning he could zip past everyone else, jumping the queue.
The car drove past a lane closed in 600 yards sign, meaning the driver is able to continue his journey for another 600 yards until he must safely merge in turn, which he did at the 200 yards warning sign.
This hotly contested subject has been questioned many times, but the highway code is very clear on the matter of 'merging in turn': "You should follow the signs and road markings and get into the lane as directed.
"In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily.
"Merging in turn is recommended but only if safe and appropriate when vehicles are travelling at a very low speed, e.g. when approaching road works or a road traffic incident. It is not recommended at high speed."
