A Candian hitman has been extradited to Thailand over the 2022 gangland shooting of mobster Jimi 'Slice' Sandhu.

Alleged hired killer Matthew Dupre, 38, and his accomplice reportedly murdered Jimi at his rented waterfront villa near Rawai Beach in Phuket on February 4 last year, before fleeing to Canada two days later.

Matthew was arrested on February 20, 2022 at his home in Sylvan Lake, Alberta.

Guarded by heavy police security, he was flown on a Royal Thai Air Force jet from the Vancouver Airport to Bangkok on Saturday, May 27.

Police Major General Montri Thetkhan, commander of the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), led 30 members of CSD's Hanuman special weapons and tactics unit to retrieve Matthew at Don Mueang airport's Wing 6 terminal in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 28 at 11 pm.

More than 100 officials, including Thai police, military personnel, and Canadian officials, were present at the airport, which was temporarily closed for security.

Matthew was taken to the Crime Suppression Division on Monday to face legal charges.

The Phuket Court had issued a warrant for him on February 11, 2022 for premeditated murder, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and illegally carrying and using firearms in public.

He was caught on CCTV entering the carpark of Jimi Sandhu's villa before the gangster's death.

On February 15, 2022, the Royal Thai Police's (RTP) foreign affairs division sent a letter, along with the arrest warrants, to the Office of the Attorney General to liaise with Canada for Matthew's extradition.

His co-accused, Gene Lahrkamp, had died in a plane crash in April 2022.

The victim, Jimi Sandhu, was part of the British Columbia 'United Nations' gang. He was deported from Canada for 'serious criminality' in 2016.
