Why is the press only now interested in this building?
It is a religious building among many others in Paris and yet it has been occupied illegally for almost fifty years. The Saint-Nicolas-du-Chardonnet church is the temple of Catholic fundamentalists, under the aegis of the Saint-Pie-X Fraternity, not recognized by the ecclesiastical authorities. A small group that has been talked about in recent days, since, since May 22, 2023, a former priest of this fraternity has been tried in La Roche-sur-Yon (Vendée) for 27 rapes and sexual assaults on minors.
