This is the incredible moment three giant whales breached right next to a kayak while slapping their tails in the water.

Paolo Osta, 37, was paddling off the coast of Puerto Madryn, Argentina, when he was joined by a trio of huge animals swimming next to him.

Awe-inspiring footage – which has been viewed more than 32million times online – shows one of the southern right whales glide past Paolo.

All of a sudden a second whale’s tail soared out of the water while a third appears to wave with its dorsal fin on its side.

Paolo said: “Nothing like this has happened to me before. I got excited and scared at the same moment.

“There were three whales that were about us. I waited for them to leave so I could kayak away without hitting them.”

Paolo’s video left people divided, with some commenters describing it as ‘once in a lifetime’ while the whales’ size left others ‘panicked’.

One commenter said: “The sheer size of them makes them so scary but so beautiful. They meant no harm but in a little boat like that. Once in a lifetime event.”

Another person wrote: “I would have the biggest panic attack ever.”

One person commented: “Wow the wave make me panic.”

Another commenter wrote: “I get nervous in the deep end of a hotel pool. These folks are brave.”
