This is the magical moment a beam of sunlight shone through a mountain cave in eastern Thailand.

Mesmerising footage shows a yellow sunbeam streaming in through the needle-eye opening on the Khao Kok Mamuang mountain in eastern Sa Kaeo province at daybreak on May 15.

Post office worker and amateur photographer Yossaphat Loeitaw said superstitious villagers in the area had told him of the so-called 'Eye of Heaven' said to grant immortality to those who bathe in its light.

He claimed to have searched for the phenomenon for years he before he finally found it while walking along the mountainside last May.

Beer has since invited other photographers to the area to take pictures of the serene landscape.

He said: 'Although the phenomenon only lasts for around five minutes, I cherish every second of it. It's worth the long wait.

'I want people to know that there is a wonderful place like this in Sa Kaeo province.'
