Passengers trapped on a broken-down train sweated through a three-hour delay in China.

Footage shows commuters aboard the G1796 service fanning themselves with papers and hand fans in Zhejiang.

A man in a black shirt can be seen lying on the ground from exhaustion on September 8.

Local media reported that the train, travelling from Xinyang East Station to Hangzhou East Railway Station, suddenly malfunctioned in the Sanhe to Dunyitang section of the Shanghai–Rong Line.

A spokesman from the 12306 railway platform said the train's scheduled departure from Xinyang East Railway Station was 8:51 a.m. local time, with an expected arrival at Hangzhou East Railway Station at 2:31 p.m.

The train eventually arrived at Hangzhou East Station nearly four hours late.

The Wuhan Railway Customer Service Centre said: 'The direct cause of the train delay was a temporary failure of the electric multiple unit during operation.'

The incident also caused delays to other passing trains departing from Hankou, Beijing South, and other stations toward Hefei South and surrounding areas, with more than 30 trains affected.
