Rare fledgling bearded vultures have been introduced to the Northern bald ibis aviary at Schoenbrunn Zoo in Vienna.

The vultures, still young and learning to fly, will observe the behavior of the ibis to acquire the necessary skills. In a unique setup, the zoo uses pneumatic pipes to deliver food, simulating their natural feeding process.

This conservation project aims to reintroduce bearded vultures to the Alps, where they were once native but faced threats from locals. The zoo's collaboration with a rescue station and involvement of 40 zoos contribute to species protection and breeding efforts.
