The first 2,500m-level ultra-deepwater pile hammer independently developed by China successfully completed the sea trial and demonstration application on Tuesday, according to China's Offshore Oil Engineering Co., LTD.
The pile hammer is the key equipment for laying the "foundation" in the seabed of various platforms such as offshore oil and gas and wind power.
The ultra-deepwater pile hammer tested this time weighs about 165 tonnes and is 2.5 meters in diameter.
It is able to hammer a 100-meter-long "steel pile" into the seabed at around three hours at its top speed, with low energy consumption, less pollution, strong adaptability and other advantages.
