China's unmanned transport aircraft successfully completes maiden test flight
The HH-100 commercial unmanned transport aircraft, developed by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), successfully completed its maiden flight at Xi'an Lantian General Airport.
The video was filmed in Xi'an City in Shaanxi Province on June 12.
The HH-100 took off promptly at 9:16 a.m., covering a distance of 35 kilometres before making a smooth landing. Throughout the test flight, the aircraft's systems operated normally, maintaining stable flight attitudes and good overall condition, marking the successful transition from ground testing to research and flight testing.
According to the lead technical manager, the HH-100 unmanned transport system comprises an unmanned aerial vehicle platform and a command control system (ground station). It boasts low cost, high payload capacity, full domestic production, and significant payload.
With a maximum takeoff weight of 2000 kilograms, a commercial payload of 700 kilograms, a full load range of 520 kilometres, a maximum cruising speed of 300 km/h, and a maximum operating altitude of 5000 metres, the HH-100 is designed for regional logistics.
It can also be adapted for forest and grassland firefighting, rescue supply delivery, emergency relay communication, and weather modification.
Building on this platform, the future plans include the development of 5-ton, 10-ton, and larger variants to meet customer demands for larger, smarter, cost-effective unmanned transport solutions.
