Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez met with European Council President Charles Michel at the presidential Moncloa Palace in Madrid, as the country took over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) on July 1.

Sanchez stressed four priorities in the following six months, including the reindustrialization of the continent and diversification of trade relations with the outside world, as well as the ecological transition and circular economy.

Sanchez said: "Europe will need new allies. We Spaniards are convinced that Latin America and the Caribbean can and should be one of the most important for Europe, and therefore we will have to expand trade and investment ties with the regions".
