This is the moment the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) rescued two distressed passengers on a deflating balloon in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Members of the RCAF search and rescue 103 Squadron responded to the incident when they received an emergency call from the balloonists early morning on July 21.

Footage shows the white balloon slowly plunging onto an open field, leaving its passengers stranded. Rescuers arrived on a Cormorant helicopter to fly them to safety.

In a statement, the Halifax Joint Rescue Coordination Centre said: 'Members of the RCAF 103 SAR Squadronn came to the aid of two balloonists today after they declared an emergency in the early morning. A Cormorant helicopter arrived while the balloon was still in flight— finally landing at first light.

'Both persons were picked up without injury and flown to the Royal Canadian Air Force 9 Wing Gander.'
