Angry Thai students protested today over the recent sham election which saw the winner blocked from becoming Prime Minister and threatened with jail.

Footage shows the youngsters at the Sanya Dharmasakti Monument in front of the Faculty of Law at Thammasat University on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand. They are calling for the 250 military-controlled senators who chose the prime minister to take office.

Locals say they have been disenfranchised following the military's move to block election winner Pita Limjaroenrat of the liberal progressive Move Forward Party from taking office. He has been suspended and faces up to 10 years in jail and a 20-year ban from politics over shares held by his late father in an inactive media company.

Establishment figures said Pita's plan to water down Lese Majeste laws were a 'threat to national security'.
