Orange juice sales soared in Thailand as K-pop star Lalisa 'Lisa' Manoban of the dancing group Blackpink posted a photo of herself enjoying the tangy drink.

Demand for the citrus beverage skyrocketed in the celebrity's hometown of Buriram in the country's northeast following the Instagram post, local vendors said.

The photo, which was captioned with no words and just an orange fruit emoji, shows the pop star smiling while holding a glass of the ice-cold drink.

Though there was no outright endorsement, vendors across Thailand reported a surge in customers wanting to try the drink themselves.

Buriram local Samniang, 61, told local media that she enjoyed freshly squeezed orange juice but has been unable to try it because of its limited availability.

But as more stores, apparently influenced by Lisa, began selling the product, she was able to quench her craving.

Juice stall owner Surachai, 45, said both regular and new customers have been requesting orange juice in large quantities, with some even ordering home deliveries.

It's not the first time Lisa has influenced the local economy in Thailand through her media appearances.

Last year, Roti Sai Mai or roti-wrapped candy floss also saw a spike in demand when Lisa posted an Instagram video showing how she prepared the sweet snack.

Meatball vendors struggling from the pandemic also had her to thank for boosting meatball sales following a 2021 interview in which she spoke about the delicious street food in a talk show.
