Yinchuan has been built for 2121 years. Due to its three major characteristics of the ancient capital of Western Xia, Hui ethnic customs, and the Jiangnan region, it was announced by the State Council as the second batch of national historical and cultural cities in 1986, ranking among the 110 historical and cultural cities in the country. There are numerous historical and cultural relics distributed in the ancient city, which reflect the development and changes of various historical periods in Yinchuan. With the passage of time, numerous historical and cultural relics in Yinchuan City have gradually disappeared into the long river of history. Helan Mountain is one of the must-have places in Yinchuan. Its maximum height difference with the plains and plateaus on its east and west sides is 2400 meters and 2000 meters, respectively. The average height difference is between 1500 and 1700 meters, and it should be classified as Zhongshan. The Helan Mountains are located in the transitional zone from semi-arid to arid areas, surrounded by deserts and semi deserts. It is a "wet island" in the context of standing drought. Therefore, it is not only one of the biological resource treasure houses of the two provinces of Inner Mongolia and Ningxia, but also a key area for biodiversity protection. The Helan Mountains have established two national level protected areas, namely the Helan Mountain National Nature Reserve in Inner Mongolia and the Helan Mountain National Nature Reserve in Ningxia. For a long time, Helan Mountain and its surrounding areas have been inhabited by multiple ethnic groups such as Han, Hui, Mongolian, and Manchu, as well as immigrant areas throughout dynasties, creating a diverse and inclusive regional culture. The Helan Mountains have always been a competitive area between the Central Plains dynasty and the northwest nomadic ethnic groups. The eastern foothills of Helan have become the largest concentrated and contiguous winery production area in China, with the largest number of wineries and the fastest development of winery clustering. The wines produced are characterized by their unique Chinese style and Eastern characteristics. More than 2 billion years ago, this was a narrow north-south geosynclinal depression where various substances transported from the already uplifted ancient land were deposited, forming a sedimentary layer up to ten thousand meters thick. At the end of the Paleoproterozoic era, the Lvliang Movement arrived, and the Helan Mountain leaped out of the seawater and became a land under the action of tectonic movement. At the same time, hot magma also took advantage of the void and surged out of the ground along structural cracks, forming large areas of granite and intrusive bodies. The plagioclase granite bodies exposed in some valleys on the east side of Helan Mountain were determined by the "potassium argon method" to have a generation age of approximately 1.84 billion years ago, which is the product of magma activity during that period.
