STORYLINE:
A group of young people dubbed the "Cleanup Ambassadors" have launched a campaign to clean the banks of the Tigris River that bisects the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
The campaign aims to make people pay attention to maintaining cleanliness to get a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful Iraq.
The campaign is a rare environmental project in a country that has suffered from decades of conflict and years of political and economic turmoil.
One of the campaign's organizers, Saif Ahmed, told Xinhua, "This campaign is not the first and it will not be the last. We seek to build a spirit of community participation and spread the values of caring for the environment among the community."
These young people succeeded in changing the landscape of the river and spreading the spirit of hope and change in their city. They show that joint and positive action can bring about significant improvements and real changes.
