Footage shows football fan who mocked cancer victim getting ushered out the back door of court by staff
This was the moment a football fan who mocked a six-year-old cancer victim was ushered out the back door by court staff.
Dale Houghton, 31, sparked fury at a Sheffield Wednesday vs Sunderland match
by showing Sunderland fans a photo on his phone of football mascot Bradley Lowery.
Bradley captured the nation's heart during his battle with Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer, which he sadly died from aged six in 2017.
Houghton appeared today (October 2) at Sheffield Magistrates' Court in South Yorks,. where he admitted a public order offence.
However, a video shows Houghton, of Rotherham, South Yorks,. being allowed to leave through the back door of the court.
The footage shows Houghton being ushered out of the building by court staff with his hood zipped up, before jumping into a black car.
Several social media users have slammed what happened.
One person said: "Are they going to do this for all defendants who don't want their face in the paper?"
"If not, how do they choose who is given the privilege of leaving by the back door? Disgraceful."
Another said: "That's a bit OTT from the court. "
"He pleads guilty and the court help him sneak away."
Houghton was bailed and will be sentenced on November 17.
