"I have repeatedly mentioned the fact that the Belt and Road Initiative fits in well with the processes unfolding on the Eurasian continent with the participation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Together, we are building transport, financial, and industrial infrastructure. These projects are quite promising."
Lavrov made the remarks on the sidelines of the 20th Annual Meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club held in the Russian city of Sochi.
According to a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson in late September, representatives from over 130 countries and many international organizations have confirmed their attendance at the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
