A mother cat intervened with a tap as the kitten boldly meowed back at their owner's reprimand in eastern China.

The funny video was filmed in Nanjing City in Jiangsu Province on October 2.

A cheeky kitten found itself on the receiving end of a stern lecture from its owner for its naughty nibbles and scratches. But it defiant meowed in response.

However, the mother cat gave the spirited kitten a gentle paw tap of its own.

Chinese netizens couldn't get enough of the amusing video, with one commenting, "That big cat clearly knows what the fuss is all about”.

The larger orange tabby cat perched above heard the commotion and promptly intervened with a gentle paw tap.
