Waterfall slows backwards when wind blows droplets skywards
This is the incredible moment strong winds carry tiny water droplets up in the air and give the illusion that water is flowing upwards.
The remarkable scene was captured by a visitor to the Fanyin Cave, near Zhoushan, in Zhejiang Province, eastern China.
The hiker who filmed the video said they first thought that dozens of flower petals were drifting in the air. Upon a closer look, they realised it was seawater being carried up by the wind as it pooled inside a small opening in the cliff, next to the cave.
The clip shows the countless drops rising up to the sky, resembling a backwards waterfall.
The Fanyin Cave, also known as the Cave of Buddhist Sound, is nestled between two tall cliffs about 100 metres (320 feet) high. The cave curves towards the sea. When the sea waves rise, they rush into the cave, making loud, thunderous sounds.
