On November 4, 2023, in Mengzi, Yunnan, a peculiar sight was captured on video as a six-year-old boy returned home with an unusual trophy.

The young boy was seen opening the gate of his home dragging a large dead snake, approximately two meters long, as several of his companions nervously crowded around the doorway.

The scene then shifted as the child brought the snake into their living room, startling their grandmother, who was resting on the sofa. At his grandmother's urging, the child eventually took the snake away and threw it out the front gate.

Chinese netizens were shocked by the child's audacity. In an interview, the child's father said that the boy has always been very brave and likes to play with crawlies like geckos. The snake he brought back in the video was even longer than himself, and he was going to show it to his mum, without thinking it ended up scaring his grandma. However, the boy also paid the price for his boldness by being harshly educated.
