A fundraiser has been set up for a worker who used a crane to rescue a man trapped on a roof from a fire in Reading, UK.

Glen Edwards, 65, has been named as the man who was operating the crane.

The large fire broke out in the town centre at a development site on November 23, trapping a worker on the roof who had to be rescued by crane in this shocking clip.

More than 50 firefighters were called to the scene and were able to put out the blaze.

The filmer commented: "I couldn't believe what happened. I saw a black cloud of smoke go up and a ball of flames. When we looked closer we saw a man stuck up at the top of the building.

"All of a sudden a crane with a carriage managed to fight through the wind and got it top of the building where the man could be lowered down safely. I'm glad he managed to get rescued and had a lucky escape."
