Firefighters saved a stranded pet dog trapped in a burning building in Indonesia. 

The pooch was stuck on the third floor as flames engulfed the shop in the capital Jakarta on Saturday morning  (October 24). 

The owner fled the building but was unable to return for their cherished pet as smoke and flames were spreading. 

Firefighters who received an emergency call rushed to the inferno and braved the heat to get inside the building. 

A firefighter said that his team immediately prepared a rescue scenario after learning that an animal was trapped in a burning building. 

He said: "Using the ladder, one of the firefighters entered the third floor through a window opening. The dog was rescued safely."

The pet dog was put in a bag and carried through the smoke before going down the fireman's ladder as the relieved owner waited below.

Firemen extinguished the fire while they returned into the home to retrieve the owner's valuables, including a smartphone and a purse. 

The fire allegedly originated from an electrical short circuit inside the shop, which sells motorcycle parts. All the residents were evacuated safely and there were no injuries.
