STORYLINE:

A temporary cease-fire between Israel and Hamas has allowed more aid to flow into the Gaza Strip.

Based on the truce agreement, Hamas will free some hostages in exchange for some Palestinian prisoners held in Israel, while Israel will allow more aid trucks loaded with food, fuel, and cooking gas to enter the war-ridden enclave.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Arabic): MOHAMED ABU MOSABEH, Spokesman for the Palestinian Red Crescent in the Gaza Strip
"As of Saturday, there had been 59 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid entering Gaza, including medical supplies, infant formula, and drinking water, for the people of Gaza, especially the northern Gaza Strip.
Today (Sunday), 33 aid trucks have entered Gaza so far. We are waiting for the rest of them to reach the strip. Today, the number of trucks coming to Gaza will double and be about 200.
Palestinian Red Crescent crews are still providing medical and first aid services despite the absence of the health system and the shutdown of hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Arabic): Fisherman in Gaza
"The Israeli military vessels destroyed and burned these four fishing boats. One family of 30 people owns these boats, and now they are unable to build new ones.
They also burned fishermen's nets. The situation here is very bad. The fishing sector will need millions of U.S. dollars to repair what was destroyed."

The weeks-long Israeli bombardment in Gaza has led to the deaths of over 14,000 Palestinians, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry.

Meanwhile, according to Israeli figures, about 1,200 people were killed, mainly in the initial Hamas attack on Oct. 7 that triggered this deadly conflict.
