The Argentine Football Association presents itself as the first opposition to the government of Javier Milei in Buenos Aires, Argentin
This footage was filmed and produced 26 November 2023.
While the president-elect assembles and disassembles his next cabinet with the direct interference of Mauricio Macri and also while Peronism is still in a state of shock due to the results of the ballot, this week began to build the first formal opposition to the government of Javier Milei, who will take office on December 10: it is not a political party or a social movement, but the AFA.
The Argentine soccer leadership held last Thursday an ordinary assembly that served to confront the dream of the improvised coalition between the hawks of the PRO and La Libertad Avanza: that the sports joint stock companies finally disembark in Argentina, a wish that Macri tried twice and that he now took up again with the privatizing impulse of Milei as president.
The assembly represented the second rejection of that initiative, which in the coming months may take more formal channels than a mere public statement. The first was the cataract of official communiques from clubs, after Milei admitted -in the last week of the campaign- that he would love to see the Premier League format replicated in the country.
