Japan: At Least 1 Dead After US Military Aircraft Crashes Off Yakushima, Search And Rescue Operation Continues 2
A US military transport plane, a CV22 Osprey belonging to the U.S. military's Yokota Air Base in Tokyo, crashed off the coast of Yakushima in Kagoshima Prefecture on Tuesday afternoon, November 29.
1 person was rescued by coast guard officers and transported to a hospital but was later confirmed dead.
Patrol boats and helicopters from the Japan Coast Guard continued its search and rescue operations through the night.
