Only in Africa: Giraffe attacks cyclist...

Buy video

We were mountain biking in the Groenkloof Nature Reserve in Pretoria, South Africa. It is a very popular mountain biking venue in Pretoria. During our ride we encountered a giraffe. He was very "tame", as is many animals in the reserve.

The giraffe was standing on the path and we stopped to take photos of the animal. After a few minutes the giraffe walked across to us and trampled the R30 000 bicycle. The then proceeded to walk towards my friend Louis-John Rex ands chased him 3 times around the cluster of trees/bushes. He later also "attacked" me and chased me around the same trees.

I then realised that the animal was severely agitated and moved away. The animal then also disappeared in the bushes.
