STORYLINE:

Newly-built temporary classrooms are built in Guanting Town Central School,
Qinghai Province, NW China.

Part of the school buildings were damaged or collapsed after a 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit Jishishan county in neighboring Gansu Province at midnight on December 18.

To resume normal school life, temporary classrooms were built by local authorities within days.

Students had their first class after the quake on Thursday, starting with post-disaster psychological counseling.

"All the classrooms are well-equipped, including heating systems, chalkboards, lights and so on. Students are more optimistic than we thought. Though the weather is very cold, we don't feel cold at all staying inside, since the rooms are well-sealed to prevent air leakage."
