STORYLINE:

The rehabilitation of the Road No. 1 in Tanzania's Zanzibar has been completed by a Chinese company, as a part of the island's urban roads rehabilitation and improvement project.

Launched in December 2022, the project was contracted by a Chinese company, aiming to relieve traffic congestion and boost development and tourism of the island.

"The difference is very huge when we compare the road before and now. The Chinese company of CCECC has made a huge difference. The road is really good and the ditches improve the quality of the road not like before.
Before the construction, when it rained, it was difficult for us to get customers but now even during the rainy season, we can do our business as usual to receive income."

"As we all know Zanzibar is a tourist city, which means a lot of tourists come here, so for that the road infrastructure needs to look good. When tourists come, they can enjoy the beauty of our city."
