STORYLINE:
Residents of Mbora, a small village with around 200 households in Namibia's rural Kavango East region, have long struggled with poor road infrastructure, which hindered connectivity and slowed socio-economic development.
The entire Kavango region is characterized by sandy roads, which become nearly impassable during the rainy season.
A turning point came when the China Henan International Cooperation Group (CHICO) partnered with the Namibian government to address these issues through infrastructure development.
CHICO began upgrading the roads in June. The project involves 11 roads in more than 10 villages, with a total length of 13 kilometers. The construction was completed at the end of October.

"People deserve to have decent roads. The good part is that the contractor we have, CHICO, has performed very well on timings, doing their projects, sometimes even completing before the period required, which actually helps us to give the rendered service speedily to the community. We are quite happy with their performance."
