Man trips on steps and bumps head on open door while staring at phone
A man learned the dangers of texting while walking when he tripped on a step and hit his head on an open door while staring at the screen.
Surveillance camera footage recorded in the city of Ningboin in Zhejiang, China, showed the man typing away on his phone while walking on January 16.
Having failed to notice that he was approaching a set of steps, he then tripped on one of them before falling to the ground and bumping his head into the open door of a nearby shop.
He could then be seen rubbing his head in an attempt to ease the pain, as a woman in a red jacket approached him and helped him get up.
Chinese media revealed that the man's family demanded CNY50,000 (GBP 5,533) in compensation from the store's owners.
It was not disclosed whether the owners accepted the compensation request.
However, recalling the incident, they said: 'From the moment he entered the area covered by our surveillance camera, he didn't even look at the road.
'Instead, he kept playing on his phone and continuously held his head down.'
