The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry has lodged a formal protest in response to a recent incident at a construction site in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Security forces, including personnel from the prosecutor's office, FSB, Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Russian National Guard, conducted a raid on January 17, 2024, subjecting 150 workers to inspection. Videos circulating online depict the workers, including Kyrgyz nationals, walking in single file while squatting. Eight individuals are set for deportation due to alleged violations of immigration laws, and four received summonses to the military registration and enlistment office. The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry emphasized that among the 40 citizens of the republic checked, no violations were found, condemning the methods used by security forces as degrading citizens' dignity. The ministry has called for a thorough investigation into the legality of the actions taken by Russian law enforcement officers, with the Kyrgyz Prosecutor General’s Office actively seeking clarification.
