A dog was rescued from an icy lake in New Melle on Monday, January 30th.
The New Melle Fire Protection District responded to a call about a dog that had fallen through the ice on a pond on South Point Prairie Road. The dog's owner was unable to reach the dog due to the dangerous ice conditions.
Firefighters used specialized equipment and training to safely rescue the dog from the icy water. The dog was evaluated by a veterinarian and is expected to make a full recovery.
