STORYLINE:
Flight MF877, operated by China's Xiamen Air, departed from Fuzhou in east China and arrived in Seoul in South Korea on Wednesday, marking the official opening of the first direct passenger flight route between the two cities.
It is also the first regularly-scheduled direct passenger flight route linking Fuzhou with South Korea.
SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): HUANG ZHENYANG, Deputy general manager of Fuzhou branch of Xiamen Air
"Before the opening of the (new route), passengers from Fuzhou had to transfer in places like Shanghai, which would take six to seven hours and was very inconvenient. After the opening of the new flight, passengers can directly reach Seoul in just over two hours, which reduces travel time. Moreover, both cities have abundant tourism resources. I believe that in the future, many South Korean tourists will also come to Fuzhou for a visit."
SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): YAN YUN, Flight captain, Xiamen Air
"Today we are flying with the Boeing B737-800 aircraft. The current weather conditions at both the departure (airport) and destination airport are good and suitable for flying. For the local residents in Fuzhou, it also offers a more convenient way of travel."
