Shocking dashcam footage shows car slamming into deputy's patrol car in Michigan
Video shows a startling incident on US-127 on February 8, where a car slammed into a Clinton County deputy's patrol car from behind. The sheriff's office released the footage of the crash, showing the deputy being struck while blocking the inner lane near Maple Rapids Road.
The deputy had positioned his patrol car to redirect traffic following an earlier crash involving a semi-truck spilling soybeans on the road. Despite activating all emergency lights, another car in the outer lane switched lanes and collided with the patrol car from behind.
The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles, with the deputy sustaining injuries. The deputy was later treated at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing and released after six hours. The released video underscores the risks faced by law enforcement officers on duty. The Sheriff's Office reminds drivers to exercise caution and vigilance when approaching emergency vehicles on the highway.
