Footage shows toxic PM 2.5 air pollution engulfing Bangkok, Thailand, on Tuesday morning.

The city was rated as 'dangerous to health' with a level of 175 from the Swiss environment monitor IQAir. Stations across the semi-developed capital recorded 80 microgrammes per cubic metre of the harmful pollutant PM 2.5.

The figure is 16 times higher than the safe threshold set by the World Health Organisation.

Government officials advised residents to work from home.
