This is the dramatic moment a landslide crashed onto a road following weeks of heavy rain in the Philippines.

Mary Mae Bulawin and her friends were heading to Poblacion Monkayo when soil and debris from Mount Diwata Monkayo collapsed downhill in Davao de Oro.

Footage shows motorists speeding across the mountain road as trees were uprooted above and land gave way on December 2.

No one was reported to have been injured from the incident.

Mary said: 'We became stuck on the road because of the landslide. I filmed the third time the mountain landslide happened. It occurred around noon time.'

Landslides occur when slopes become unstable due to factors such as heavy rainfall, earthquakes, volcanic activity, or human interference, causing soil, rocks, and debris to rapidly slide downhill.

The country has been experiencing scattered heavy downpours across the regions due to the Northeast Monsoon and the developing tropical cyclone, Tropical Depression Wilma.

Weather forecasts expected the storm to make its initial landfall over the Eastern Visayas between Friday evening, December 5, and December 6.
