Nearly 6 out of 10 cases of liver cancer (55%) are related to alcohol consumption, even intermittent or occasional drinking, so hepatologists have it clear about spirits: they are not healthy in any way, and weekend excesses are just as harmful as daily drinking.
More than a thousand experts are meeting this week in Madrid at the 49th Congress of the Spanish Society for the Study of the Liver (AEEH) to present a study on the evolution of the etiology of liver cancer over the last fifteen years in Spain, which places alcohol as the leading cause of liver disease.
Liver cancer can affect 29.9% of healthy people who drink and the prevalence rises to 54.9% if alcohol is consumed with previous pathologies, including fatty liver, a condition suffered by a third of the Spanish population and caused, among others, by obesity or diabetes.

This footage illustrates the various alcoholic beverages in Miami supermarkets.
