STORYLINE:

Ning Fenfang, a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), China's national legislature, is a farmer from central China's Hunan Province.

"My name is Ning Fenfang, a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress. I'm a post-90s deputy from Cili County of Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province. I served as a village cadre in 2018. At that time, we faced a big challenge to restore abandoned land. In 2020, during the village election, I expressed my intention to resign from my position and become a full-time farmer. I wanted to farm the abandoned land."

In 2021, Ning set up a cooperative for large-scale cultivation.

Since then, the cooperative has rented over 1,000 mu (about 66.67 hectares) of land, creating more than 200 job opportunities for local villagers.

In 2023, Ning was elected as a deputy to the 14th NPC.
