In a recent update from the Colorado Springs Fire Department, it has been determined that the Marksheffel Rd. Fire was accidental, likely caused by dragging chains from a vehicle. A drone video released by CSFD showed the extent of the fire, which has now reached 640 acres with 90% containment as of Monday, March 11th at 1:30 pm.

Despite the size of the fire, fire crews are confident that the containment line will hold, with one CSFD brush truck remaining on scene to patrol for hotspots.
