Simi Valley Middle School Bomb Threat, US
This footage was filmed and produced 15 March 2024.
Info via SVPD press release: On 03/13/2024 at approximately 11:00 pm the Simi Valley Police Department received a call from a member of the Simi Valley Unified School District advising they had just received a threat via their “We-Tip” platform. The threat involved an unknown individual sending a message via “We-Tip” claiming that they intended on bringing a “bomb” onto Valley View Middle School’s campus on Friday (03/15/2024).
School Resource Officers from the Simi Valley Police Department immediately began investigating the incident and the investigation is currently ongoing.
Today, school staff, along with School Resource Officers completely swept the Valley View Middle School campus and did not find any evidence of concern. This will be repeated tomorrow as well.
School staff is on high alert, and they are familiar with safety procedures should they see anything out of sorts. Out of an abundance of caution, for today and tomorrow, there will also be an increased presence in and around the campus by the Simi Valley Police Department. Please understand that you may not always see officers openly patrolling the campus, however they are around.
The Simi Valley Police Department as well as the Simi Valley Unified School District take every threat seriously and this case is no different. There have been recent trends regarding these types of threats via “tip lines,” in fact, yesterday, Taft High School in the San Fernando Valley received a threat, which was later found to be a hoax. We want to minimize any potential panic and repeat that we are taking this seriously.
As a reminder, please remember that the most effective tool we have to combat the threat of danger in our schools is “See Something, Say Something.” No issue is too minor to report. If you or your children have concerns, please report them.
If anyone has any information about the individual or individuals responsible for the threat, please contact Officer Torres at 805-583-6950.
