As Bengali New Year nears, preparations are in full swing across Bangladesh, especially in the capital, Dhaka.
The day, usually celebrated every year on April 14, is marked by grand festivities.
Currently, artists from Dhaka University's Faculty of Fine Arts are dedicating their time to crafting paper masks and large bamboo symbolic animal figures. They will be used at the main colorful new year procession called the Mangal Shobhajatra (March of Good Tidings).
The flagship procession was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016.
